DIY: Non-Toxic Dish Soap

Did you know the leading cause of poisonings in the home for children under the age of six is liquid dish soap? This is why I like this DIY: Non-Toxic Dish Soap recipe  free of  toxic chemicals like formaldehyde and ammonia.

Ingredients

Directions: Mix 2 cups of liquid castile soap with ½ cup of warm water in your bowl. Castile soap is any soap made entirely from vegetable oil. Add ½ cup of lemon juice. The lemon will add acidity to your soap, which is a powerful decreasing agent. Add essential oils. Thoroughly mix all ingredients using a whisk. Add your liquid dish soap to an empty bottle. You can use old store-bought soap bottles, or any decorative bottle.

DIY Damage Repairing Hair Mask is the perfect way to restore moisture, repair summer exposed hair without the extra cost of special hair care products or unneeded chemicals.

Ingredients:

  • One egg
  • 1 cup of milk (for shoulder length hair use 1/2 cup)
  • A squeeze of lemon
  • Two tablespoons of olive oil

Directions: Separate the egg whites and egg yolk. Beat the separated egg yolks in a clean barter. Add 1 cup of milk and two table spoons of olive oil to the egg mixture and mix well. Squeeze the lemon into the mixture.

Massage the mixture into scalp, working from the roots to the hair ends, and let it sit for 15 minutes. Cover with a disposable plastic shower cap to keep it from dripping.

Rinse well with lukewarm water and shampoo to make a final cleanse of your hair.

Ingredients

Directions: Cut a lemon in halves. Squeeze all the lemon juice out of one half and place in a small bowl. Consume the finished product in its entirety including all the lemon pulp. Hold it in your hand and cup it as if you’re holding a fruit. Repeat recipe in 4 hours with the other lemon half. Source

Recipe #2:

Fill a spray bottle with hot water. Leave an inch or so clearance at the top to allow room for the rest of the ingredients. Add 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol. Pour in 2 tablespoons of Purex crystals. Cap the bottle and shake it up until the crystals dissolve.

Recipe #3:

Using a funnel, pour 2 tablespoons of fabric softener into the bottle. Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar.  Add six to ten drops of your favorite essential oil. Fill the rest of your bottle with water. Shake until well combined.

Watermelon

Cut into 1 inch slices, brush both sides with your favorite oil and grill.

DIY: Homemade Fruit & Vegetable Wash

Did you know fruits and vegetables, even organic can have an alarming amount of pesticides and bacteria on their surface? Using this homemade all-natural fruit and vegetable wash has the combined acidity of vinegar and lemon juice, which kills bacteria, removes pesticide residue and helps dissolve the waxy coating found on most produce. Washing with plain water alone will not remove.

You will need

Directions

Combine the water, lemon juice and white vinegar in your measuring cup. Carefully pour the solution into your spray bottle. Shake well to combine.

Spray your fruit and vegetables with the spray solution and gently scrub or rub your produce. Rinse under cold water and serve. You now have fruit and veggies free of pesticides and bacteria!

To Store

Place the spray bottle in the fridge once you’re finished. This homemade fruit and vegetable wash will remain potent for up to one month.

Honey is known as the miracle cure for skin of all types. It’s been used since ancient times to treat cuts, burns and is a natural antibacterial and anti-infammatory. It absorbs impurities from the pores and the skin. Lemon brightens and exfoliates. It’s great for acne prone skin, age and sun spots or uneven skin tone. What you need

Cut lemon into slices (lemon wheels), pick out any seeds. Add 1 teaspoon honey to the lemon wheel and gently exfoliate your face with the lemon and honey. (You can squeeze out any excess lemon juice from the lemon wheel and apply to you face if you like.) Leave mixture on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Pat gently with a towel to dry. Let your skin breathe for the rest of the day, or follow up with your favorite moisturizer and serum.

Moist heat packs are filled with moisture-absorbing grain that draws moisture from the air and re-circulates it deep into sore muscles.   • Flair (ribbon, fragrant oils; optional)

Instructions

Fill your container with the filling. Tie or sew the container shut. You can also add a soothing aromatherapy before you microwave container for 1-3 minutes.

Note: Do not apply cold or heat therapy for more than 15 minutes at a time. Apply either heat or cold is to alternate 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off for an hour or two.
