DIY: Self Tanner & Skin Detox

Save $$$ on a self tan this summer! This DIY tanning recipe not only tans, it also remove toxins out of your skin. 


Directions: Combine the coffee grounds and olive oil. Rub coffee grounds gently and evenly on your body and facial skin. Avoid rubbing into your eyes, nose and ears. Let sit 15 minutes. Rinse completely and dry as normal.

For a deeper tan, fill a bath with warm water. Add coffee grounds. Stir the bath. Soak in the water. The longer you soak, the darker your skin will become.

Coffee grounds contain over 300 naturally occurring antioxidant compounds. They remove toxins out of your skin and have the same pH balance as your own skin, which allows it to battle acne and blemishes. Coffee is a natural astringent, detoxifier and exfoliant. Directions: Cut a lemon in halves. Squeeze all the lemon juice out of one half and place in a small bowl. Keep the half you extracted the juice from for the last Step (store the other half for later use). Chop the garlic and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Then add it to the lemon juice with the cayenne pepper. Add the honey to the mix and stir all ingredients well. Pour the entire mixture back into the lemon half (which you extracted the juice from)

Consume the finished product in its entirety including all the lemon pulp. Hold it in your hand and cup it as if you’re holding a fruit. Repeat recipe in 4 hours with the other lemon half. Source

The Best Fruits & Veggies for Summer Grilling

Did you know grilling fruits and vegetables like eggplant, brussels sprouts, and even fruits such as watermelon and peaches give a flavorful twist to summer grilling?


Cut into 1 inch slices, brush both sides with your favorite oil and grill.

Fruit and Veggie Steaks

Slice fruits and veggies like pineapple, eggplant or zucchini into thick slices, brush with oil and grill


Brush whole kale leaves with oil and grill both sides till crispy.

Bush with oil and grill them gill-side down for 3-4 minutes, and then flip and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Brussels Sprouts

Parboil in salt water, season and grill in grilling basket.

Cut in half and pit, brush with oil and grill skin side down then flip till cooked.

DIY: Homemade Fruit & Vegetable Wash

Did you know fruits and vegetables, even organic can have an alarming amount of pesticides and bacteria on their surface? Using this homemade all-natural fruit and vegetable wash has the combined acidity of vinegar and lemon juice, which kills bacteria, removes pesticide residue and helps dissolve the waxy coating found on most produce. Washing with plain water alone will not remove.



You will need


Combine the water, lemon juice and white vinegar in your measuring cup. Carefully pour the solution into your spray bottle. Shake well to combine.

Spray your fruit and vegetables with the spray solution and gently scrub or rub your produce. Rinse under cold water and serve. You now have fruit and veggies free of pesticides and bacteria!

To Store

Place the spray bottle in the fridge once you’re finished. This homemade fruit and vegetable wash will remain potent for up to one month.

Moist heat packs are filled with moisture-absorbing grain that draws moisture from the air and re-circulates it deep into sore muscles. What you need

  • Flair (ribbon, fragrant oils; optional)


Fill your container with the filling. Tie or sew the container shut. You can also add a soothing aromatherapy before you microwave container for 1-3 minutes.

Note: Do not apply cold or heat therapy for more than 15 minutes at a time. Apply either heat or cold is to alternate 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off for an hour or two.

DIY Homemade Gel Ice Pack! We all know injuries and summer go hand in hand with all our summer activities. Let me show you how to make your own gel ice pack for just pennies. This simple ice pack gets extremely cold and can be used on inflamed joints and muscles. Place a towel over the ice pack before using. Can also be used  to help with headaches by placing at the back of the neck.

What you need

  • 1 quart or 1 gallon plastic Ziploc freezer bags (depending on how large you want the cold pack)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup rubbing alcohol


Fill the plastic freezer bag with 1 cup of rubbing alcohol and 2 cups of water. Seal the Ziploc, trying to get as much air out of the freezer bag before sealing it shut. Place the bag and its contents inside a second freezer bag to contain any leakage. Leave the bag in the freezer for at least an hour. When it’s ready, place a towel between the gel pack and bare skin to avoid burning the skin.

Another way to apply ice to the back is by freezing water in a cup, and then rubbing it on the affected back muscles to reduce inflammation.

What makes up the Two Day Detox?

A wonderful fat metabolizer, grapefruit contains limonene, pimene, and citrol, all phytochemicals that fight cancer. (If you take prescribed medication, please consult your doctor before consuming grapefruit juice.)

  • Orange ~ 32 ounces | One of the highest sources of vitamin C, oranges protects us against colds and help the body fight cancers of the lung, cervix, esophagus, and stomach.  Doctors often recommend fresh orange juice to patients with high blood pressure due to its high content of potassium. Oranges also contain bioflavonoids, limonene in particular, which is one of the most exciting phytochemicals in the fight against cancer.

  • Pure Lemon Juice ~ 16 ounces | This citrus fruit is high in vitamin C, P, A, and folic acid. Rich in bioflavonoids, lemon is a natural diuretic with antiseptic, germicidal, and mucous-eliminating properties. Lemon has been used for centuries as a liver toner.

Why use juice to fast?

Fresh juice is gentle and healing. Juice is a live food carrying vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and enzymes to the body quickly and efficiently. You need enzymes for cleansing and rebuilding, and you need antioxidants to fight aging and dangerous free radicals. You also need liquids to continuously flush the system and carry away toxins. How To Mix Juices:

  • You will need two empty 1 gallon containers.
  • Pour 4 ounces of Pure Lemon juice in each container.
  • Top each container off with Distilled water until they are full.
  • Shake the juices together and refrigerate.

Note: You can fresh squeeze or buy the juice individually.

Drink one gallon of detox each day and as much distilled water as desired. Tip: The day before you start the detox, eat a light dinner with lots of fruits, vegetables and little to no meat.

Using and old coffee grinder, grind lavender, jasmine and witch hazel flowers into a powder. Whisk together powder, milk and honey and shake in a jar and pour half of the mixture into your warm bath. Store the remaining mixture covered in the refrigerator; it will last a week.
